Odds and Ends -July 31,2008

#1 Today the Commerce Department announced that we are not in a recession. Obviously the Commerce Department has no clue about what is going on in America. I have been in retail for 35 years and this is the worst I have ever seen, aside from my personal observations, talking with many other small business owners in retail it is a consensus that business is the worst they have ever seen. Not only are we in a recession, but we are most likely on the verge of a major economic Depression (note to McCain Staff: Not a Mental Depression).

#2 - On an NPR interview Speaker Pelosi said the reason that the Democrats did not chose to pursue Impeachment of the Bush Cheney duo was because the Democratic leadership felt that it was more important to pass other legislation to deal with the recession and the energy crisis. Ms. Pelosi, you failed, not only did you not live up to the mandates of the Constitution by Impeaching an Administration that has very obviously committed "high crimes", but you have failed to offer any legislation that will project America and the American People into the future. If you had passed a comprehensive Energy Program that funded a ten year plan to remove America from fossil fuels, then we could say that something has been accomplished, but as it stands NOTHING was accomplished except acquiescing to the Republican Bush Cheney Administration and being complicated in the devastation of the American Middle Class, Working Class and Poverty stricken. You do not have a clue as to what the American Family is going through right now.

# 3- The McCain Campaign accused Senator Obama of playing the race card. Sometimes when I read the comments from the McCain Campaign I think that it is a Comedy Show, but then I realize that these people are actually serious. Let's see, the two Economic Advisers brought on to the campaign made the following Statements on live T.V., one said "gas prices have no effect on the economy", the other said that "it is only a mental recession...........Americans are a bunch of whiners". These People were brought on because McCain himself admitted on T.V., that "he really doesn't know much About the Economy", so exactly why is this man running for President. He claims to know about war, well shouldn't he know that torture is against the Geneva Convention? He claims to know about foreign policy, should he know that Czechoslovakia does not exist anymore? He claims to know about Energy Policy, shouldn't he know that fossil fuels have outlived their usefulness? The strongest growing economy is Brazil, which has manged to ween itself from fossil fuel consumption. Mr. McCain should enjoy retirement at this stage of his life.

#4 Richard Pearle, one of the archieticts of the Iraq War, in fact a policy that he was proposing as far back as 1996 is going into the Oil Business in Iraq!!!!!! So, over 4,000 U.S. lives and 10,000 wounded were pawns for Richard Pearle to become an Oil Tycoon????? Oh where oh where can the Congress be????
