Repost Of Solutions for A Growing America - Part 1

Image
The number one priority for the America today is of course a viable, cohesive, renewable energy policy. This Administration seems unwilling to tackle the issue of Energy Independence for America either because it will put a crimp in the profitability of the Corporations that have supported them or because they just plain don't care because they are an Administration that has always had a short term vision. It then becomes incumbent on The Congress to lead the way and hammer out a program that will fund the research, development, installation and distribution of renewable, alternative energy. By funding research and development through American Universities and colleges, The Congress can also at the same time improve the Educational System that has fallen behind due to lack of support for the last seven plus years from the current Administration. The Congress can implement and fund programs throughout the Country that would cost a fraction of what was spent on the invasion of Iraq. ...

Senator Obama Energy Plan

Image
The Obama for President Campaign today released a comprehensive viable energy plan. It could be more aggressive but it is better than we have seen before and far superior to The McCain plans which relies on expanding the production and burning of fossil fuels. Senator McCain's plan would actually subsidize Oil Corporations with 5 Billion U.S. Tax Payer dollars. The Republicans are trying to put themselves in the light of fighting for lower fuel costs, but what they are really fighting for is to keep the fossil fuel suppliers as the only energy source for Americans. Read the Obama plan below as published by the Obama for President Campaign for a real beginning to changing America's Energy Future. BARACK OBAMA: NEW ENERGY FOR AMERICA America has always risen to great challenges, and our dependence on oil is one of the greatest we have ever faced. It’s a threat to our national security, our planet and our economy. For decades, Washington has failed to solve this problem because of...

Drilling is A Phony Issue

The Republican talking point of Drill Here was taken up again today by President Bush. This is now a concerted effort among Republican Lawmakers, The Bush Administration, The McCain Campaign, the right-wing Murdoch-controlled press, and television news lays blame on Democrats for the high energy costs. The same technique that the Republican Machine has used so successfully, is again being utilized to push a Drill Here agenda. It is nothing more than a giant land grant to multi-billion dollar energy companies. People involved in oil production, government agencies, and even the President have agreed that any new exploration would take at least seven years to come to market, so therefore it will have no short-term effect on the price of gasoline. In seven years, we as a Nation, should be more than 80% on our way to powering our needs with sustainable, renewable, alternative energy and only years away from being fossil fuel-free. That would be the basis of a REAL ENERGY PLAN. The Nat...

Monday, June 2, 2008 Because the Deabte is raging now this is a Repost of June 2, 2008 Solutions for A Growing America - Part 1 The number one priority for the America today is of course a viable, cohesive, renewable energy policy. The Gore Speech

Image
Former Vice President Al Gore gave a speech calling for America to produce every kilowatt of electricity through renewable, sustainable alternatives within ten years. That is definitely the direction in which the next President must lead the Country. A fully funded policy leading towards 100% renewable, alternative, sustainable energy sources is a sure way to correct a lot of the National problems that the Republican Bush Cheney Administration will leave to this Nation upon their welcomed departure. The Republican response to the Al Gore speech was summed up in one word by Republican Senator George Voinovich of Ohio, "ridiculous". That is the typical Republican response when looking at the future. The Republican Platform will call for more drilling, more refineries and more coal production because the Republican Party can not see the future, they want to cling to the past. Both Major Political Parties must realize the importance of ushering in a fossil free age. The Era of Fo...

Obama and Energy Policy

Image
Unlike Senator McCain who plans on solving the energy crisis by awarding prizes to Corporations for energy solutions, Senator Obama has some clear policy initiatives on his Web Site www.barackobma.com . Reading the Policies stated on the Obama Web Site one can see that Senator Obama gets it, he calls for massive long term investments in research, development and deployment of alternative, renewable fuel sources and the infrastructure to implement them. This past week we saw John McCain offer two solutions to the energy problem, the first being continue drilling for oil off shore and on public lands, the second being a $300 million dollar prize to the corporation that can develop a better car battery. Mr. McCain seems to be very limited in his vision of the future of energy. Neither McCain solution will have any significant impact on the way America produces and uses energy. Although Senator Obama's policy pronouncements are lacking , at least they have a vision for the future and ...

End The Tariff on Brazil

Image
Brazil has positioned itself to become a dominant producer of ethanol from sugar cane, the most energy efficient ethanol that can be produced right now. Brazil has excess capacity and is building more. The foresight of their leadership during the Gas Crisis of the late 1970's has put them in the forefront of energy independence. When President Carter proposed the same kind of program for America in 1977 the Republicans refused to consider an alternative energy program and the Democratic leadership of that time was not much help in focusing the attention of the Federal Government on Alternative Fuel. The little funding that President Carter was able to accomplish was cut in half by the Republican Administration of Ronald Reagan. Now Brazil in in the position to send 8 million gallons of ethanol into the United Sates each week and could increase that to daily if the U.S. Government would remove the fifty four cents a gallon imposed on Brazilian Ethanol. and welcome their Eco-sustain...

Domestic Drilling Solves NOTHING

Image
Today the Republican Mantra was once again, domestic oil drilling on public lands and off shore. Allowing drilling on Public Lands and off shore has been a goal of the Bush Administration since they entered office. This was one of the few agenda items that they weren't able to push through following the fervor of 9/11, so they are still pushing in the final months before the Administration must give up the helm. Today, the Republican Propaganda machine pushed the line that allowing off shore drilling would lower gas prices. This is a typical Republican Propaganda tactic, keep repeating a lie and it will take on a truth of its own among the people. The Truth is that if right now, this instance, oil companies were allowed to begin drilling the first drop of gas produced would be 5-7 years from today. The only way allowing drilling would have any affect on gas prices today is if all the speculators and Commodity traders suddenly unwound all their oil and gas futures contracts and t...
