McCain a Maverick In His Own Mind

It didn't take long for Senator John McCain to mention the attacks of 9/11 in his speech accepting the Republican Nomination for the Presidency. In fact it happened within 90 seconds, "I'm grateful to the President for leading us in those dark days following the worst attack on American soil in our history, and keeping us safe from another attack many thought was inevitable; and to the First Lady, Laura Bush, a model of grace and kindness in public and in private. And I'm grateful to the 41st President and his bride of 63 years, and for their outstanding example of honorable service to our country." The Official start of the speech was 9:11 PM - this was not a coincidence but a planned move by the Republican McCain Campaign. The Republicans can't seem to stop capitalizing on the attacks that the Republican President George Bush failed to prevent even after being warned in a Presidential briefing one month prior to the attacks. Here Senator McCain praises Bush for his leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks instead of criticizing him for ignoring the warnings and failing to act.

Yet, McCain states, " You know, I've been called a maverick; someone who marches to the beat of his own drum." Maverick is a moniker that he assigned to himself, there are few Senators who are more entrenched in Washington and have done the bidding for the Washington Lobbyists. The entire McCain Campaign is run by corporate lobbyists, from his campaign manager right on down to his advisers. What exactly is he a Maverick at, accepting advise from Lobbyists?

His Vice Presidential pick was obviously a concoction of the his campaign lobbyists and PR people, no serious Presidential Candidate could have possibly picked a woman who only had a passport for a year. Yet, The Maverick said, " And I've found just the right partner to help me shake up Washington, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. She has executive experience and a real record of accomplishment." Her only qualification for the Republican Party is that she is a hypocrite who opposes abortion but supports the death penalty and the invasion of a Sovereign Nation that did not harm the United States in any way. It seems odd that a anti-abortionist like Ms. Palin has no qualms about supporting the invasion of a Sovereign Nation and killing tens of thousands of innocent people along the way.

It is obvious that John McCain only cares about winning the election by accepting the choice of his lobbyists and approving the choice of Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential Nomination, yet he says,"I fought for the right strategy and more troops in Iraq, when it wasn't a popular thing to do. And when the pundits said my campaign was finished, I said I'd rather lose an election than see my country lose a war." Leaving aside the fact that we should have not invaded Iraq to begin with and his constant clamoring for War that is loading the Treasuries of Corporate Mercenary Companies, he chose a Vice President to pacify the Christian Base of the Republican Party who can't possibly be the leader of the free world to win an election.

McCain continues the lies throughout his speech blaming the Washington establishment for the ills of our Nation, does he realize he is and has been the Washington establishment for over 20 years. What change did he ofter in his time in the Senate? How did he try to change the policies of the Bush Administration? He did not. Senator McCain voted for the policies of the Bush Administration over 90% of the time, so he agrees with 90% of what has been done to our Nation in the last 8 years.

Senator McCain stands for nothing but Senator McCain. He is even running from his own Political Party because he realizes the damage that they have done to our once Great Nation.Add to Google
