John McCain and Treason

Treason as defined by Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary:
1 : the betrayal of a trust : treachery
2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

Traitor as Defined by Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary:
1 : one who betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty
2 : one who commits treason

Treachery as Defined by Merriam Webster's Online Dictionary:
1 : violation of allegiance or of faith and confidence : treason
2 : an act of perfidy or treason

In looking at these definitions can we reasonably conclude that John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin was an act of betrayal and treason on the part of John McCain? By all accounts the selection of Sarah Palin was made by Council for National Policy, an ultra secretive Conservative Religious Policy Group of wealthy Republican donors who seek to change the policy of the U.S. Government to reflect religious rule. The official statement of their purpose as listed on PolicyCouncil.Org, which is self described as a Publication of Council for National Policy, states: The Council for National Policy ("CNP") is an educational foundation organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We do not lobby Congress, support candidates, or issue public policy statements on controversial issues. Our more than 450 members include many of our nation's leaders from the fields of government, business, the media, religion, and the professions. Our members are united in their belief in a free enterprise system, a strong national defense, and support for traditional western values. They meet to share the best information available on national and world problems, know one another on a personal basis, and collaborate in achieving their shared goals.

Most independent observers state that the Council for Policy is really a "highly secretive... theocratic organization -- what they want is basically religious rule" (A Patriot Act). Barry W. Lynn. A look at the Membership as listed by Source Watch, includes
Gov. Sarah Palin
Tom DeLay
Trent Lott
Lauch Faircloth
Ed Meese
Howard Ahmanson
Jerry Falwell
Tim LaHaye, author of the Left Behind Series,
James Robison
Lou Sheldon, traditional values coalition
Rev. Sun Myung Moon

At a secret meeting in Minnesota before the Republican National Convention, with Tony Perkins and James Dobson in attendance it has been suggested that John McCain would recieve the support of the CNP if he accepted the selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. All indications are that the CNP agreed to mobilize the Christian Right behind the McCain Campaign if he accepted their choice of Sarah Palin. If we examine the facts, this suggestion is very plausible.

John McCain is a 30 plus year member of Congress as both a Congressman and a Senator, who has been seeking the Presidency for quite some time only to be beaten by G.W. Bush and the Christian Right in the 2000 Republican Primary. As the McCain Campaign moved closer to the 2008 Republican national Convention, the Campaign was devoid of momentum and unable to attract the Christan Coalition who were threatening to sit out the election. Out of the blue, McCain announces Sarah Palin as his running mate even though he had only met her for fifteen minutes before his selection. With the circumstantial evidence that Sarah Palin was the payback to the CNP for their support, John McCain can be seen as committing treason as defined.

As a thirty plus year Senator John McCain must have realized that Sarah Palin was not capable of leading the United States, yet for the political expediency of his quest for the power of the Presidency, he was willing to put the Nation in the hands of a detrimental political choice knowning that he was in failing health, in the sixth year of a statistical eight year cancer remission, and that he was 72 Years Old. The odds of Sarah Plain inheriting the Presidency were very high. Although McCain stood behind campaign slogans that read "Country First", his selection was anything but putting the "Country First".

As the nominee for the Republican Party for the Presidency of the United States John McCain had the obligation and the duty to make choices that were in the best interest of the Nation, his selection of Sarah Palin can in no way be interpreted as in the best interest of our Nation, therefore applying the definition of traitor which states: one who betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty. John McCain betrayed the trust placed in him as the Republican Nominee and was false to his obligation and duty to the Nation.

Side Note: The CNP also supported Proposition 8 which banned gay marriage in California and is the subject of Civil Protests by tens of thousands of California Citizens throughout the State. These Protest promise to spread throughout the Country and while they are spreading in would serve the organizers well to research and make public the funding and backers of the pro Proposition 8 amendment to the California Constitution and as John McCain loved to say during his failed campaign, "Know their Names, Make them Famous"

Your blog is nothing but speculative nonsense looking for a "bogeyman" to blame for John McCain's abysmally run campaign. Picking Sarah Palin was the only thing he did RIGHT.
