Bill Clinton Smacks it Out of The Park

Image
Former President Bill Clinton showed why he is one of the most persuasive speakers in Politics at The Democratic National Convention in Denver last night. President Clinton publicly buried the hatchet with Senator Obama stating that the election of Senator Obama will have his full support. After the necessary conciliatory remarks about supporting Obaa President Clinton listed a litany of Democratic Ideals that should prevail after eight years of the devastation that has been created by the current Republican Administration. President Clinton spelled out the reasons why we can not afford a John McCain Presidency with these simple eloquent lines: "Our nation is in trouble on two fronts: The American Dream is under siege at home, and America's leadership in the world has been weakened. Middle class and low-income Americans are hurting, with incomes declining; job losses, poverty and inequality rising; mortgage foreclosures and credit card debt increasing; health care coverage d...

Democratic Platform

Image
The Democratic Convention should present to the America People with a platform that will lay out the foundation for the future course of the Nation. With 84% of the People polled thinking that the Country is headed in the wrong direction it is a golden opportunity for the Democratic Party to present a new foundation on which to build our future as a Nation. The Party Platform should address a major policy initiative that will put us on a course of Energy Independence with a timetable for achieving goals such as 20% of all buildings owned by all levels of government energy self sufficient within 5 years. All public lighting taken off the electric grid within 7 years and so on. Concrete funded objectives must be presented and met. The Democrats must speak out and have a legislative agenda to limit interest rate percentages to a reasonable level such as 7% above prime. Right now financial institutions can borrow tax paper money from the Federal reserve at below 2% interest, yet they char...

Let the Campaign Begin

Image
The upcoming week should finally resolve who will be the Democratic nominee for President. The Democratic nominee has a lot of ground to cover, McCain has been campaigning for weeks without opposition, while the Democrats have been still fighting amost each other. Hopefully, whichever Democrat becomes the nominee will begin a campaign of issues immediatley and not get sucked into the politics of antagoism that the Republicans would prefer. From the past couple of weeks it has become obvious the kind of campaign that the Republicans will run. They will run a campaign of fear and distortion. It is incumbent upon the Democratic Candidate to raise the level of the campaign to one of issues and solutions. The Democratic Nominee must engage the American Electorate with interesting and viable solutions to the economic instability that has gripped the middle class, working class and poverty stricken. The Democratic Candidate must address the energy issue with a long range cohesive plan that...

Senator Edwards Endorses Senator Obama

Today, Wednesday May 14th, 2008, former Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee John Edwards announced his endorsement of Senator Barack Obama at a packed rally in Flint, MI. Senator Edwards used the occasion to re-iterate the key issues that his own Presidential campaign highlighted, national health care, equal educational funding, poverty, and hunger. In a sometimes crusader voice and tone, Senator Edwards took the time to shine a favorable light on Senator Clinton before extolling the virtues of Senator Obama and the hope and promise for the revitalization of the American Dream. John Edwards, (D), NC, spoke of a country that has spiraled into a country of two classes, the privileged and the rest of the citizens. Mr. Edwards spoke of An America where those who are better off economically receive the best educational opportunities while the small town and inner city residents settle for a less than acceptable education. The packed house responded with partisan cheers as Mr. Edwards ralli...

The Democratic Party Platform

Now that Senator Barack Obama is the presumptive Democratic Party Nominee for President of the United States of America, the Party must present a Platform on which to run their Nominee. The Party should be aware of the key issues that the Citizenry is expressing interest in and are looking for solutions for. Any Platform that fails to address the issues that pulled Senator Obama through the Primary process will be deficient. The Democratic Party must present a platform that will enhance and further the liberal tradition of the founding Fathers. The Founding fathers envisioned a Government that would secure the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To bring these ideals into reality the Democratic Platform must address the immediate and the future. The Platform must present the Democratic Vision of Governance, not the Public Relations talking points of a media campaign. Any failure by the Democratic Platform to put a realistic platform under the feet of their Nominee ...
