The Republicans showed their true colors today in a series of unrelated events. When the House of Representatives adjourned for the August recess the Republicans staged a mutiny on the floor led by Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and other Republican Congressmen.  At the motion to adjourn the Republican Minority Leader rose to oppose adjournment claiming that the failure of the Democratic-controlled House to schedule a vote on offshore drilling was hurting the American Economy. What a joke, what is hurting the American Economy is eight years of Republican Policies and the leadership of the Republican Bush Administration. You can stick the drills in the ground right now, right this instant and there will not be any discernible effect on the price of gas or on the health of the American Economy.  What will have a discernible effect on the American Economy is to admit that the Fossil Fuel Era is ending and point America on a path towards renewable, sustainable, alternative ...

Today the Republican Mantra was once again, domestic oil drilling on public lands and off shore. Allowing drilling on Public Lands and off shore has been a goal of the Bush Administration since they entered office. This was one of the few agenda items that they weren't able to push through following the fervor of 9/11, so they are still pushing in the final months before the Administration must give up the helm. Today, the Republican Propaganda machine pushed the line that allowing off shore drilling would lower gas prices. This is a typical Republican Propaganda tactic, keep repeating a lie and it will take on a truth of its own among the people. The Truth is that if right now, this instance, oil companies were allowed to begin drilling the first drop of gas produced would be 5-7 years from today. This week's Republican talking point being pushed by the Republican Senators, Congressman, Radio Minions and the propaganda department at Fox news is that the Democrats are to blame for the rising gasoline prices that are affecting the world. During the week they all hit the same point, open up drilling here to alleviate the rise in gasoline prices. This short sighted approach is typical of the Republican concern for the future of America, and is typical of the distortions that they present to the American People. Senator Barack Obama had to quit the Church that he attended for over twenty years because the right wing Republican minions who do the bidding of the ultra-conservatives on radio and television have made a sport out of attacking Trinity Church and the members of the Church. In a Press conference Mr. Obama stated that his decision to quit his Church was not a renunciation of the Church, but something he was doing to take the spotlight away from the members of the Church who have been barraged by the press. Newt Gingrich has launched a Web Site called " American Solutions For Winning The Future". This Web Site has launched a petition campaign called, Drill Here, Drill Now, in which they are petitioning the Congress to open up more drilling land to the Oil Companies. Mr. Gingrich states on the Web Site in the Welcome letter that this is a bi-partisan group of Americans working for solutions for the future of American, yet if you look at the list of donors, also available on the Web Site you will notice that the contributors and supporters of this group are all Republicans and State Republican Parties. President Bush gave an interview to Politico and Yahoo News in the Oval Office today. In the interview Bush expressed concern about leaving an unfinished war to a Democrat successor. Bush warned that a Democratic Plan to withdrawn from Iraq would create a disaster in the region. These statements bring to mind a flood of questions: 1. Isn't the Iraqi Occupation already a disaster? 2. Are we to believe based upon Bush's handling of the Iraqi Occupation, and he is a Republican, that it would only reason that the Nation would want another Republican to be in charge of the continued occupation? 3.
